Bristol sinks on side effects

Shares of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. sank to their lowest level in almost six years Tuesday as analysts expressed concerns with side effects associated with the two of the company’s experimental diabetes drugs.
In midday trading, Bristol (BMY, Fortune 500) shares fell 37 cents, or nearly 2%, to $20.26 after earlier trading as low as $19.97.

Jobless claims show unexpected drop

The number of laid-off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits showed an unexpected improvement last week although a key indicator of unemployment hit a four-year high.
