Provenance adds new president, properties

Provenance Hotels has added a new president, signed agreements to manage three San Francisco properties and opened new offices in San Francisco and Seattle to extend its West Coast reach.

The Portland-based hotel chain focuses on upscale urban hotels. Its portfolio includes Hotel Lucia and Hotel deLuxe in Portland, the Hotel Max in Seattle and the Hotel Murano in Tacoma.

The former Aspen Hotel Group purchased Portland’s historic Mallory Hotel in Northwest Portland in 2005 and renovated it into a boutique movie-themed property.

Bashar Wali was named president and succeeds Howard Jacobs, who announced he was resigning as president and COO on June 11.

Wali will manage the hotel group’s day to day operations and oversee its growth strategy, which calls for adding new properties across the Western U easy payday loans.S. through purchases, management agreements, joint ventures and loan originations. Wali joined Provenance in 2006. Prior to that, he served as vice president for Grand Heritage Hotels International.

The new additions to the portfolio include three San Francisco hotels, which Provenance will manage through agreements with their owners. The company manages a total of 14 properties, including ones it owns.

Gordon Sondland, chairman and CEO, said that the new hotels coupled with the decision to open offices in San Francisco and Seattle will broaden Provenance’s reach and provide easier access to California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and Washington.
